Holly House

Texarkana, Texas

A site with generous northern acreage and a desire for connection to the outdoors drive the design of this home for a young family. The house is oriented east-to-west on the site, thereby minimizing the morning and afternoon exposure. Porches and a walkway from the garage shade the southern exposure from the midday sun while simultaneously allowing for generous windows and a glazed entryway. The north side of the house is the locus of exterior activity, with large glass doors opening onto an airy and generous screened porch. Secondary and private spaces are organized along the spine of the home.
